ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. — A man was arrested on charges of kidnapping and domestic violence last week near a busy intersection in Arapahoe County.
Deputies from the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office were called to the 8700 block of E. Florida Avenue on March 7 following reports of a possible kidnapping and hostage situation involving Jeffrey Sliter. The caller told 911 that Sliter was holding her coworker at gunpoint, according to the sheriff’s office.
Upon arrival at the residence, authorities did not locate Sliter or the woman. A thorough search ensued, leading deputies to find the victim’s car in a parking lot on the 2300 block of S. Chambers Road.

Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office
Sliter, aged 46, attempted to escape on foot upon spotting the deputies. However, he was pursued and apprehended inside a nearby establishment by law enforcement officers. Concurrently, other deputies ensured the victim’s safety during the operation.
Sliter was booked into the Arapahoe County Detention Facility on charges of kidnapping, assault, false imprisonment and domestic violence.

According to court documents, he has a lengthy criminal history, which includes convictions of drug charges, theft, trespassing and burglary.
The Denver Police Department, Aurora Police Department and South Metro Fire Rescue assisted in the incident.
