A man in central Illinois was finally apprehended by the police more than three years after he allegedly drugged and sexually assaulted a woman. The arrest came almost a year after an expired order of protection had been issued against him.
Loves Park police did not explain the delay in the arrest of 66-year-old Dennis Bieniek for the February 2022 incident, WTVO reported.
The police responded to a call from a hospital on February 9, 2022, regarding a reported rape incident. The victim’s toxicology report tested positive for benzodiazepine, the active component found in medications like Xanax and Valium.
According to the victim, she had no prescriptions for such drugs and did not give her consent to engage in sexual activity with Bieniek. DNA evidence linking Bieniek to the crime was discovered on the woman’s socks, as per reports from the Illinois State Police lab.
She was granted the order of protection after the incident, and it expired last year.
Bieniek was charged with criminal sexual assault without consent.
