Meghan Markle Labeled 'Impatient' By Tina Brown Who Claims Duchess Has An 'Instinct For Getting It Wrong'

Tina Brown has given a harsh judgment of Meghan Markle‘s Netflix program amidst various other unfavorable evaluations that have followed the venture since it premiered.

The journalist said the eight-part series showed that the Duchess of Sussex has an “unerring instinct for getting it wrong.”

Brown also touched on Meghan Markle’s strategy for introducing her lifestyle label, specifically noting the royal’s failure to obtain the trademark for American Riviera Orchard.

Following the launch of Meghan’s latest Netflix series, “With Love, Meghan,” numerous media platforms and critics have heavily criticized it.

Now, Princess Diana’s former biographer, Tina Brown, has added her voice to the list of those who think the show is below par.

In her Substack newsletter titled Fresh Hell, the ex-Vanity Fair editor claimed that the show is proof that the former actress has an “unerring instinct for getting it wrong.”

According to the journalist, Meghan has also “never figured out a convincing persona,” a statement that seems to take a dig at the duchess’ rumored intention for the show to be about her authentic self.

Brown further suggested that Meghan should have chosen to focus on a project detailing “what a spectacular failure the past five years have been” if she aimed for it to be successful.

The Duchess Was Slammed As ‘Impatient’ By The Journalist

Elsewhere in the newsletter, Brown took a dig at Meghan’s approach to securing the trademark for her lifestyle brand and how she has gone about promoting the business.

“Who announces a new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, and hounds celebrity friends to talk up her strawberry jam on social media without doing due diligence on the availability of the trademark?” Brown wrote.

The journalist also claimed that the former actress is “impatient” and slammed her and her husband Prince Harry’s decision to sign a deal with Netflix after their shocking departure from being working royals.

“All Meghan had to do was shut up and wait,” Brown said. “Go quiet for a couple of years, start a family, keep her eyes trained on the splendid royal real estate that would soon come up for grabs.”

“The moment William ascended to his role as Prince of Wales, there would have been new global gigs and red carpet roll-outs raining down on the Sussexes’ heads. But no. Offered the Commonwealth or Netflix, the Sussexes, with naïve avarice, chose Netflix,” Brown further critiqued.

Meghan Markle’s Half-Brother Claimed She Was Telling ‘Malarkey Stories’ About Her Childhood On The Show

Meghan’s elder half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., is also one of the royal’s biggest critics. He recently appeared on TalkTV, where he slammed her claims about her upbringing, accusing the duchess of trying too hard to appear relatable.

On her show, Meghan reflected on her childhood and talked about how she was a “latchkey kid,” noting that “microwavable kids meals” were normal for her.

She shared that her go-to meals came from Pollo Loco, Taco Bell, and Jack In The Box, similar to past comments she made in 2021 about frequenting the $4.99 salad bar at Sizzler.

However, Thomas Jr. dismissed his half-sister’s claims. He said, “That’s just another one of the malarkey stories she sold to the royal family for sympathy.”

“We weren’t poor. She didn’t have to rub two nickels together at Sizzler’s salad bar,” Thomas Jr. added, per the New York Post.

The Duchess’s Netflix Deal Is Yet To Be Renewed

Despite the wave of negative criticism surrounding the Netflix show, it has been renewed for a second season, much to the duchess’s delight.

However, a source has revealed that a second season was already part of the plan from the onset, and it is not a guarantee that Meghan’s $100 million deal with the streaming platform will be renewed once it expires.

“It’s not a runaway success,” the source told the Daily Mail about the duchess’s show. “I know they filmed the shows back-to-back so in theory there is no second season; it’s like with lots of Netflix shows, it is already in the bag at the same time as the first one.”

They added, “What this does is allow edits to be made to the show from feedback from press and Netflix viewers. It’s clever and cost-effective. So no, the overall contract hasn’t been renewed yet.”

Meanwhile, Meghan has chosen to focus on the positive reception of her show rather than addressing her critics.

She recently took to her Instagram Stories to highlight content creators who have been inspired by “With Love, Meghan” to try out some of the tips, tricks, and recipes she shared.

“Love seeing how inspired you are by ‘With Love, Meghan,'” the former actress captioned over six slides of reposted videos and photos. “Keep up the beautiful work!”

Next up for Meghan is the launch of her As Ever brand in the spring of 2025. The business was initially named American Riviera Orchard, but the name was dropped due to trademark issues.

As part of the venture, Meghan plans to sell home decor and kitchen items, including decanters, napkin rings, cutlery, table linens, placemats, napkins, and cookbooks.

She will also offer various healthy, edible options, some of which she has posted about and sent as gifts to her celebrity friends.
