CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Guardians announced changes to the popular “Guards Fest” event on their X account (formerly Twitter) on Monday afternoon, and the reaction from fans has been far from positive.

Originally started as “Tribe Fest” in 2013, the annual event served as an offseason bridge from one season to the next for Guardians fans to gather for a weekend of activities, family-friendly events and an opportunity to meet current and former players, coaches, and executives from the team’s present and past.

In today’s announcement, the team announced that the event will run annually no more. Guards Fest will now run once every three years, with the next event slated for after the 2026 season.

According to the statement on the Guardians’ official X account, the change is due to “fan outreach” conducted over the past several events.
