FAMOUS TikToker Tophiachu’s brother, known as Brotherchu, was fatally shot in a carjacking on March 11, 2025.
Here we look at who Brotherchu was and what happened to him.
Who was Brotherchu?
Brotherchu, whose real name was Donald Slydell Jr, was a 27-year-old member of the Slydell family.
He was known for appearing in his homeless sister Tophia Slydell’s TikTok posts — she goes by the username Tophiachu.
The family became well-known for their disordered and disputed online material, primarily focused on Tophiachu — a divisive personality with more than 389,000 followers on TikTok by March 12, 2025.
Brotherchu supposedly had a YouTube channel named Hershey505 in the past, where he posted videos about his interests such as Dragon Ball Z, gaming, and collecting cards.
Nonetheless, his internet visibility was tainted by claims of wrongdoing, including allegations of mistreatment and revealing personal information about his former girlfriend ‘Angie’.
Doxxing is publishing private or identifying information about an individual online without their permission, typically with malicious intent.
Deadly carjacking
On March 11, 2025, tragedy struck the Slydell family during a carjacking incident near Montgomery Park, Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Around 3.30 am MDT, a suspect crashed his Subaru in the park and attempted to steal a brightly colored car, which was occupied by Tophiachu, her mother and brother.
The carjacker fatally shot Brotherchu, who was in the driver’s seat, and critically wounded their mother, Marie Lucero — known as Mamachu — who was in the back seat.
With the deceased and injured victims still inside, the suspect fled the scene in the stolen vehicle.
The ordeal ended when the car crashed into another vehicle near Montgomery Boulevard.
Amid the chaos, a security guard from a nearby apartment complex intervened after hearing screams for help.
The guard fatally shot the carjacker, bringing the violent incident to an end.
Albuquerque Police Department spokesperson Gilbert Gallegos said in a statement: “[The security guard] intervened. And my understanding is, you know, the person that was in the Jeep, the other victim felt like the security guard saved his life.”
Tophiachu took to Instagram stories after the shooting, where she can bet heard saying: “Oh my God, my family was shot. They killed my brother. My brother’s dead… My brother’s dead. Help me! Why!”
She later added an update in her instagram stories, where she said: “I called the cops yall right away. My family from what I know they said is at the hospital idk if their alive. My brother looked unalived in the drivers seat.”
