Peter Crouch, the former striker for Liverpool and England, caused a stir when he gatecrashed ITV’s coverage of the Cheltenham Festival, surprising viewers with his comments about his wife, Abbey Clancy.
A keen horse racing enthusiast, Crouch was in attendance at Cheltenham to enjoy the thrills on the second day of the Festival. He witnessed Rachael Blackmore guide Air of Entitlement to victory in the opening Novices’ Hurdle at 1:30 PM.
Prior to the race, Crouch engaged in a conversation with ITV presenter Oli Bell, who likely wasn’t anticipating the response he received. Bell inquired whether Crouch had any experience riding horses, prompting an unexpected confession from the footballer.
“Yeah, I’ve been on a few horses. Abbey [Clancy, his wife] likes to ride…” He quickly added, “Horses!”
Both laughed as they tried to regain their composure to wrap up the segment, with Crouch joking,
“I’ve been thrown off a couple of times!”
Bell responded,
“Alright, we’ll leave it at that!”
ITV shared the clip on Twitter, prompting one viewer to comment, “Crouchy is absolutely hilarious.” Another chimed in, “Cheers for that Crouchy,” while a third added, “Peter Crouch is a national treasure.”

Crouch and Clancy tied the knot in 2011 and are proud parents of four children. Earlier this month, Clancy spoke to the Daily Mirror about their married life, reflecting,
“Looking back at our wedding day and some of the choices we made, we think, ‘Bloody hell, who were we back then?’”
She continued,
“But today, we’re still in sync; we share the same interests and the same things that make us laugh. It’s a really happy time for us right now.”
