Friday was a tragic day for the Foo Fighters, with the band confirming the death of their drummer Taylor Hawkins, yet more details are emerging over his demise with a suspicion that it may well have been drug-related overdose.

Hawkins, 50, was found in a Colombian hotel room in Bogota, with the band there to play at a festival after completing a number of tour dates in South America.

According to a report published by the Daily Mail, Colombian police say that the death of the musician may be drug related.

Hawkins had a history of drug use, which may well be taken into account when the police made their initial assessment.

“According to those close to him, the death could be related to the consumption of drugs,” a Metropolitan Police of Bogota statement read.

After the announcement of Hawkins‘ passing, a number of fans and journalists gathered outside the hotel where the band had been staying, with coroners later arriving to take away the body for an autopsy.
