On Thursday, UEFA’s executive committee will meet to approve a new model of financial fair play, and Paris Saint-Germain believe that it could help them to retain the services of Kylian Mbappe.
The Frenchman has been linked with a move to Real Madrid when his contract expires on June 30th, but is yet to clarify his future.
According to L’Equipe, rules on spending related to income would be relaxed and would come into force from next season.
There are doubts
That would mean that PSG could make an even better offer for their star player in an attempt to persuade him to stay in Paris.
“I haven’t taken a decision, but there are new factors,” Mbappe said at the weekend.
“What are they? New factors. I’m calm, trying to make the best decision with my loved ones.”
Wage cap
With the new fair play system in place, clubs would be allowed to spend up to 70 percent of income on wages, according to the report from L’Equipe.
That would be implemented gradually, but it would give PSG room to manouevre as the 70 percent limit wouldn’t come in until 2025, with 90 percent necessary in 2023 and 80 percent in 2024.
That could help PSG to keep hold of Mbappe, at least for the next two years.
