Eintracht Frankfurt fans flocked to the London Stadium for their team’s Europa League semi-final tie against West Ham United.

The German side won 2-1 thanks to a goal after 50 seconds from Ansgar Knauff and another from Daichi Kamada in the 54th minute, after the Hammers had equalised through Michail Antonio in the 21st minute and came close to salvaging a 2-2 draw in extra time with Jarrod Bowen‘s bicycle kick against the crossbar.

Pressure measures

What was not lacking was atmosphere in the stands with a huge presence of away supporters.

However, West Ham, who had already been warned of what had happened in the previous round at the Camp Nou when 30,000 Eintracht fans took over Barcelona‘s stadium, took the necessary measures.

The English club threatened to cancel the season ticket and ban anyone who sold their seat to a visiting fan from the stadium for the remainder of the season.

This move had an effect, because, according to some media estimates, although around 10,000 Eintracht fans travelled, only 3,000 were in the stands.
