Florentino Perez, Real Madrid president, spoke publicly after the club’s claiming of the LaLiga Santander title.

Los Blancos claimed a comfortable 4-0 win over Espanyol to finally wrap up their 35th Spanish title.

“I feel what all Madridistas feel, a great satisfaction,” Florentino told Movistar. “We had the objective of winning LaLiga and winning the Champions League. We have won the first and now we have to see about the Champions League.”

A lot of people are already talking about Kylian Mbappe‘s expected arrival in the Spanish capital this summer. Naturally, the question was put to the president.

“I hadn’t thought about it but now that you mention it, it might be true and so on,” Florentino cryptically said.

“When we plan next year’s squad we’ll see.”

With the LaLiga Santander title win, Carlo Ancelotti became the first coach to be crowned domestic champion in Italy, England, France, Germany, and in Spain. The president had words of praise for the coach.

“He has a lot of experience in coaching squads and there is always someone who criticises something,” Florentino said, dismissing the criticism of Ancelotti.

“But his identification with Real Madrid is great, with our values and with what we represent, and that is important in a coach.

“Maybe [Ancelotti didn’t expect the job offer]. As soon as we called him he said ‘I’m running’, that’s what he said.

“And talking to him in the last few days, he told me that he has coached many teams and he says that the difference is that at Real Madrid the players are fans of the club, and that is a plus.”
