Police say the suspect, Brent J. Mollet, took the victim hostage and barricaded in a bedroom inside the house.
CLEVELAND — Jackson Township police say a 44-year-old man was arrested after an hours-long SWAT standoff involving a hostage victim Thursday night.
Police were called to a residence on Scotsbury Street Northwest in response to a “domestic situation” around 7:30 p.m., as stated in a police press release. Allegedly, the suspect, identified as Brent J. Mollet, had taken the victim hostage and barricaded themselves in a bedroom within the residence.
After arriving at the scene, the Jackson Township police took measures to secure the area and requested the assistance of the Canton Regional SWAT Cooperative. Following a three-hour standoff, during which negotiations took place, Mollet eventually released the victim before surrendering to authorities.
Mollet was taken into custody at the Stark County Jail. He is charged with kidnapping, disrupting public service and domestic violence.Â
