The duo Somizi and Mohale weren’t legally married, as revealed by Somizi Mhlongo.

The social media celebrity Somizi Mlhongo spilled the beans, saying that
He and Mohale Motaung could not be divorced as we never registered our marriage with the department of home affairs.
The reality show star made a confession on his show called Living the Dream with Somizi that the wedding was happening, but they did not plan to get it registered.
Before his marriage, he hired a lawyer, Hopewell Sathekge, who advised him not to register the wedding. The lawyer on the show revealed this information, stating that the duo haven’t ever signed their marriage certificate because the reverend did not have the documents.“I knew with marriage, there would be challenges, naturally, but there are challenges where you can see that this is going to hell. So when they told us that the pastor did not bring the certificates, I was like, “look at God!”
According to radio personalities, the quasi marriage license has caused a problem in their divorce case.
“Their lawyers are in negotiations because there is a large estate at stake here.”
“The biggest issue is that the marriage is not registered and, naturally, it would fall under customary law, but that is something Mohale is struggling with because he is not in possession of a letter proving that lobola was paid for him.”
Motaung’s parents have stepped back because they have not approved this marriage. Per the source, the family dislikes the relationship from the beginning.

Motaung wisely planned it before going to court. According to court documents, the couple wanted their marriage to be legally recognised before the divorce could proceed. The jury wanted them to act as witnesses to their wedding and prove it.
In the utter lack of a lobola letter, conventional law expert Galaletsang Phakedi of Phakedi Attorneys stated in an interview that implementation of wedding recognising through the court is the quick fix.
“Proof of marriage can be done through affidavits and photographs.”
“The emissaries of the spouse(s) who were present during the negotiations must be asked to depose to the affidavits.”
“If the money was paid in cash, affidavits must be detailed enough to explain what happened on the day of the negotiation and the circumstances which led to the loss of the lobola letter.”
