Former Yankees star Brett Gardner has announced the tragic death of his youngest son, Miller, at the age of just 14.
Brett and Jessica Gardner shared in a statement on Sunday that their teenager became unwell, along with other family members, while they were on a trip. Despite this, they mentioned that many uncertainties persist regarding the situation.
Gardner spent his entire Major League Baseball career as an outfielder with the Yankees, helping New York win the World Series in 2009.Ā
‘With heavy hearts we are saddened to announce the passing of our youngest son, Miller,’ the family said.Ā
‘He was 14 years old and has left us far too soon after falling ill along with several other family members while on vacation.Ā
The Gardners stated that although there are numerous inquiries without clear answers at the moment, they have confirmed that the teenager peacefully passed away in his sleep on the morning of Friday, March 21st.

They expressed their gratitude towards everyone who has extended support and words of encouragement during this challenging period. The Gardners also have faith that with the help of their beliefs, family, and friends, they can navigate through this indescribable loss.
‘Our prayers go out to Miller’s teammates and friends, as well as to all other families who have lost a child far too soon as we share their grief.
‘Please respect our wishes for privacy as we mourn and search for healing.’
Gardner, 41, played 14 seasons with the Yankees between 2008 and 2021. He was said to be highly respected within the organization and forged close ties with the likes of Aaron Judge.
The Yankees also released a statement on the tragedy.Ā
‘Our hearts are heavy, and the Yankees family is filled with grief after learning of the passing of Miller Gardner,’ the team said.Ā
