CLEVELAND — A 15-year-old passenger died Saturday after a single-vehicle crash in Geauga County early Saturday morning, troopers said.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a 19-year-old resident of Burton was driving a Ford pickup truck east on Burton Heights Boulevard near State Route 44 in Newbury Township. The truck swerved off the road and collided with a tree. The incident occurred shortly before 1 a.m.
The 15-year-old, who was not identified by police, was pronounced dead at the scene.Â
A 19-year-old passenger and an 18-year-old passenger were taken to a Geauga hospital with minor injuries.Â
None of the occupants were wearing seatbelts, troopers said. Speed “appears to be a factor” in the crash, according to the highway patrol.Â
The crash remains under investigation.
