Last week, MAX’s popular medical drama, The Pitt, took a dark turn as it turned into a horror spectacle. The setting shifted dramatically with an active shooting unfolding at the local music festival, PittFest, which caused chaos at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital’s ED. The Pitt was brought to life by R. Scott Gemmill and is overseen by executive producers John Wells and Noah Wyle, who also stars in the series. The debut season of this gripping drama revolves around a grueling fifteen-hour shift for Dr. Robby in the emergency department. Not only does he have to navigate working on the anniversary of his mentor’s passing from complications of COVID-19, but he also has to mentor a new group of interns and medical students while steering the department through its most catastrophic mass casualty event to date.
Dr. Robby’s also dealing with the emotional fallout of watching numerous patients die, discovering that charge nurse Dana Evans (Katherine LaNasa) has been assaulted by a disgruntled patient, and learning that his closest friend in the ED, Dr. Langdon (Patrick Ball), has been stealing opioids from patients. Oh, and then there was the whole conversation that implied that ex Dr. Collins (Tracey Ifeachor) once aborted a baby she’d conceived with him. Dr. Robby has been juggling a lot!
