Martha Stewart is ringing in the holiday season with a touch of glamour!

Recently, she organized a lively Christmas tree lighting event at The Bedford Post Inn, where she warmly welcomed 100 guests to join in on the festivities. The tree selected for the ceremony held a significant meaning, as it was initially planted as a small seedling on Martha’s farm back in 2009.

The lifestyle icon has been sharing her expertise on holiday hosting with fun tips and festive recipes to elevate any holiday gathering.

And when it comes to attending holiday parties, Martha Stewart knows how to make an entrance.

The renowned lifestyle figure captured attention by donning a dazzling sequin cardigan at a festive dinner hosted at Ryan Murphy’s residence. Demonstrating that holiday fashion can be achieved without extravagant gowns, Stewart styled the sparkling garment with cream pants, a matching top, and elegant black booties, showcasing a look that is both stylish and accessible.

Sequins have always been a popular choice for holiday party attire, with celebrities like Demi Moore and Jennifer Lopez shining in glamorous sequin dresses, and Taylor Swift frequently rocking sparkly outfits. Nonetheless, Stewart’s relaxed take on the trend presents a more laid-back yet sophisticated alternative—ideal for occasions that do not require formal cocktail ensembles.

Last week, Martha Stewart hosted a festive Christmas tree lighting at The Bedford Post Inn, where guests enjoyed cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and the warm sounds of Christmas carols. The event wasn’t just about holiday cheer—it also supported a meaningful cause, with proceeds benefiting the Martha Stewart Center for Living at Mount Sinai Hospital.

The center provides essential primary care for seniors and valuable support for their caregivers. Reflecting on the evening, Martha shared, “It was a lovely evening with friends old and new.”

The Bedford Post Inn was transformed into a holiday wonderland adorned with fresh greenery, fragrant evergreen branches, flickering faux candles, and wreaths gracing every door and window. A Champagne tower added a touch of elegance, while bowls of candy canes brought festive cheer. To make the evening even more memorable, guests enjoyed an ornament-making station, creating keepsakes to take home and treasure.

The holiday season is a whirlwind of activities, from gift shopping and cookie exchanges to festive dinners and celebrations. And according to Martha Stewart, that’s exactly how it should be—embracing the hustle and bustle is part of the magic of this time of year.

“If you’re zen, you’re boring. Live it up a little bit,” she said. “Do some new things. Do four Christmas trees instead of one.”

Martha has always championed the importance of staying busy, even during the holidays. Whether it’s hosting an elaborate Thanksgiving dinner or a festive Christmas brunch at her Bedford, N.Y., home, her calendar is never empty during this festive season. For Martha, the joy is in the action and celebration.

Martha loves hosting brunch during the holidays, as it’s a great way to include guests who may have family plans later in the day. One memorable Christmas, she went all out with a 200-person brunch, serving a festive spread of ham, oysters, cookies, and her legendary eggnog.

“I feel like those are two things I always want to have: oysters and ham. I know they’re splurges—but people always remember how many oysters they ate,” she said in the December 2011 Martha Stewart Living issue.

In addition to her hosting duties, Martha devotes time to transforming her 153-acre property into a holiday wonderland. She decorates one to three trees in every room of her home, adorning them with a mix of vintage and modern ornaments she has lovingly collected over the years.

“My windows and doorways are always garlanded and wreathed indoors and out,” she said in the December 2016 issue of Martha Stewart Living.

One year, Martha took her holiday decorating to the next level by purchasing over 40 evergreen wreaths to adorn the windows of her home and the eaves of her outbuildings. She added a magical touch by attaching shooting stars to the roofs and sides of the buildings, creating a dazzling holiday display.
