Cristiano Ronaldo‘s future at Manchester United is again in doubt. This time, though, fellow Premier League side Chelsea have emerged as surprise candidates to sign him.

The Portuguese is reportedly unsettled at Old Trafford as he is far from impressed by what the club have done so far this summer and since appointing Erik ten Hag.

?Now, The Athletic are reporting that Jorge Mendes, Cristiano Ronaldo‘s agent, met with new Chelsea owner Todd Boehly recently to discuss the idea of taking the ex-Real Madrid man to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea, for their part, are set to lose Romelu Lukaku this summer as the Belgian is heading back to Inter on loan.

The report says that Mendes and Boehly met in Portugal last week, and the idea of Cristiano joining Chelsea was one of the things they discussed.

It has been reported that Chelsea will sign six players for Thomas Tuchel this summer.

Chelsea had found themselves in a troubled situation after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, with sanctions being put on the club while Roman Abramovich was in charge. That then led to the club’s sale to Boehly.

Bayern Munich also in contact

Mendes also spoke to Bayern Munich about Cristiano. The German giants, though, were reluctant to move for the forward as his salary demands were deemed to be too high.

As things stand, Bayern are also hoping to keep hold of Robert Lewandowski despite his desire to join Barcelona this summer.

Bayern and Lewandowski are currently locked in a stand-off with the Polish No.9 trying to force a move, whereas the Bundesliga winners are digging their heels in and not allowing the striker to decide his future without their agreement.
