Another law firm has responded to the Trump administration‘s attacks against it by filing a First Amendment lawsuit in federal court.

President Donald Trump signed an Executive Order titled “Addressing Risks from Jenner & Block” on a Tuesday. The order accuses the Chicago-based national law firm of Jenner & Block LLP of abandoning the legal profession’s highest ideals, endorsing partisan ‘lawfare,’ and misusing its pro bono practice for activities that subvert justice and U.S. interests.

This Executive Order follows a series of similar efforts aimed at reducing the influence and reach of Big Law within the federal government, particularly targeting firms whose lawyers have represented clients the Trump administration believes are “detrimental to critical American interests.”

The 64-page complaint filed Friday in federal court in Washington, D.C., calls the 45th and 47th president’s order “an unconstitutional abuse of power against lawyers, their clients, and the legal system.”
