Kevin Durant requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets a few days after Kyrie Irving opted in to his player option and NBA insider Brian Windhorst believes both players are on their way out.
While all teams are interested in acquiring Durant, there is little interest for Irving around the league.
The Los Angeles Lakers, however, are working on signing Irving, Durant or both of them together, should that option be available.
After taking a deep breath, Windhorst reported on ESPN that the Lakers could potentially have a package to trade for both superstars.
“It has been floated to me,” Windhorst said. “That the Lakers would potentially have a package that you could trade for both of them.”

Prior to opting in to his $36.5 million player option for the 2022-23 season, Irving was reportedly interested in a reunion with LeBron James.
Windhorst also reported that the Purple & Gold will continue pursuing Irving in a trade that would include a package around Russell Westbrook.
Nets would likely ask for future first-round picks from the Lakers, who’ve been unwilling to include them in recent negotiations.
Lakers are hoping to keep the draft picks that will jumpstart their team when James leaves the franchise.
James, 37, will be a free agent next summer, one year before his son Bronny enters the league.
King James has previously said that he would join the team that drafts Bronny, so the window for another Lakers championship is quickly coming to a close.

Windhorst also reported that Irving is now focused on forcing his way to the Lakers in a trade deal focused around Westbrook.
The ESPN reporter claims that besides the Lakers, the Los Angeles Clippers are considering trading for Irving.
Clippers, however, would only trade for Irving should the price become low enough.
Clippers head coach Ty Lue knows Irving from their Cleveland Cavaliers days.
Although things did not end well after Irving left Cleveland, Windhorst says the two men have made up their differences.
