Ohio man wins $1 million prize from scratch-off ticket

The winner chose the cash option of $500,000. After federal and state taxes, he will receive around $360,000.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A western Ohio man has a bit more cash in his pocket after winning the top prize on a scratch-off ticket this week.

The Ohio Lottery said the player purchased the winning ticket at a Shell located on Far Hills Avenue in Kettering, a Dayton suburb.

The winner said they were overjoyed to find out they won the top prize and are grateful for the win, according to the lottery.

They plan to buy a home for themselves and cars for each of their children with the prize money, the lottery said.

The winner chose the cash option of $500,000. After federal and state taxes, he will receive around $360,000.

The player won the money off a $50 scratch-off called VIP Millions. As of March 29, 41 top prizes remain.
