Andy Cohen Snaps Back At Karamo Brown When He Says Cohen Worked On The “Old” ‘Queer Eye’: “The One That Built The Sh*t”

Let it be known that Andy Cohen spent “many years” as an executive producer on Queer Eye when the show aired on Bravo from 2003 to 2007.

On Tuesday night’s (Dec. 10) episode of Watch What Happens Live, Cohen welcomed the Netflix reboot’s newest member Jeremiah Brent to the Bravo Clubhouse. By the time the After Show rolled around, his fellow castmates — Jonathan Van Ness, Karamo Brown, Antoni Porowski, and Tan France — were seated at the set’s bar.

Brent joined Queer Eye’s ninth season, which dropped on Netflix today, as Bobby Berk’s replacement.

“I think it’s one of the best seasons we’ve ever done. The energy is amazing, the heroes are exceptional. Jeremiah brings a new passion, a new spark. You’ll see so much joy in this season,” Brown gushed, while France added, “It’s my favorite season yet. I think [Brent is] incredible.”

While Brent knew France and Porowski prior to joining the show, the group said it wasn’t exactly “love at first sight” for Brown, who gave him some “tough love” at first.

“I just wanted to make sure that he was qualified,” Brown said, noting that Brent ended up being the “star of the season.”

However, Cohen — who was an executive producer on the show’s original run on Bravo before it was rebooted on Netflix in 2018 — pointed out that he knew a thing or two about castmates not starting off on the right foot.

“By the way, I was an EP of Queer Eye for many years,” he began, before Brown cut him off to say, “The old one.”

Cohen quickly fired back, “Yeah — uh — the original, girl.” After snapping his fingers with some sass, he added, “The one that built the shit. And I saw Jay Rodriguez make many a mixtape.”

The talk show host laughed off the moment, telling the Fab Five, “That was fun,” before moving on to the next segment.

Watch What Happens Live airs Sunday through Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on Bravo. New episodes are available to stream the next day on Peacock.
