Kanye West says he never wanted to have children with ex-wife Kim Kardashian.
Wearing a black hood and robe similar to the Ku Klux Klan’s attire, West, 47, had a conversation with podcaster DJ Akademiks in an extensive interview broadcasted by Akademiks through X on Sunday, March 30.
The discussion encompassed various topics, including West’s recent controversial activities on social media. He addressed claims that the “Kardashian mob” has influenced his parenting of the four children he shares with Kardashian: North, 11, Saint, 9, Chicago, 7, and Saint, 5. (West and Kardashian were married from 2014 to 2022 and were granted joint custody in their divorce finalized in November 2022.)
At one point, Akademiks said, “When you speak about Kim, people might be like, ‘Well, you picked her. You put yourself in that.’”
West responded, “Absolutely, I did. That was my fault. No, that was my fault.”
“I didn’t want to have children with this person after the first two months of being with them, but that wasn’t God’s plan,” West added.
Earlier in the month, West criticized his ex-wife and her family for allegedly interfering with his parental rights. On March 15, he put out a song called “Lonely Roads Still Go to Sunshine,” which featured North and disgraced music figure Sean “Diddy” Combs, 55, despite Kardashian’s reported efforts to prevent its release.
In an alleged text message exchange between Kardashian and West, the Skims CEO told her ex-husband that North could not be featured on the song because her name is trademarked. “I asked you at the time if I can trademark her name. You said yes. When she’s 18, it goes to her. So stop,” Kardashian reportedly wrote, according to screenshots published by TMZ.
“I sent paperwork over so she wouldn’t be in the Diddy song to protect her,” Kardashian reportedly added, referencing Diddy, who was arrested in September 2024 and indicted on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. (Diddy has denied the allegations against him.)
In a rant shared via X on the same day, West wrote, “Yes I have beef with people that froze my account took my kids away and tried to put me in jail AND ITS STUCK.”
“I DONT WANT TO JUST ‘SEE’ MY KIDS. I NEED TO RAISE THEM,” he added. “I NEED TO HAVE SAY SO OF WEAR THEY GO TO SCHOOL AND WHO THEIR FRIENDS ARE AND WHOS HOUSES THEY SLEEP OVER WEATHER MY DAUGHTERS WEAR LIPSTICK AND PERFUME ALL THESE RIGHTS HAVE BEEN TAKEN FROM ME BY THE KARDASHIAN MOB HULU AND DISNEY AND THE BIGGER AGENDA TO USE THE SELECTIVELY BRED BLACK CHILDREN TO BE PLATFORMS TO INFLUENCE BLACK PEOPLE.”
Speaking to Akademiks, West said he realized he didn’t “own” trademarks to his kids’ names and likenesses after North featured on the song with Diddy.
“I don’t got the name or likeness ownership, or at least 50-50, with my kids. So how is it joint custody?” West said. “My kids are celebrities and I don’t have a say.”
