A man in Oklahoma was captured on a body camera being arrested by the police after allegedly shooting at two of his neighbors, hitting one of them. The incident was triggered by his displeasure over them working on a piece of land, as per authorities’ reports.
In the video, Michael Stevens, 41, is seen preemptively surrendered by kneeling on the side of a dirt road with his hands behind his back.
As mentioned in the arrest warrant application, law enforcement officials responded to a report of gunshots at Alexi Lane in Oklahoma City around 2:58 p.m. on Sept. 13. The suspect, identified as Michael, was found to be in an intoxicated state and confessed to the officers about the events. He expressed his dissatisfaction with seeing individuals clearing the land adjacent to his property, stating that he was unaware of the land’s ownership status. The noise of the chainsaw led to him losing his temper and resorting to violence.
Detailing the sequence of events, documents showed that Michael’s anger was directed towards the land being cleared, prompting him to take extreme actions. This situation unfolded with Michael confronting his neighbors, leading to a dangerous confrontation that resulted in one individual being struck by gunfire. The bodycam footage captured by the police sheds light on the volatile nature of the situation and the subsequent arrest of the suspect.
According to cops, those two victims were Stevens’ neighbors, and the owners of the victims’ home hired the pair to clear brush and trees from five acres of newly purchased land north of the property.
Stevens allegedly said that he confronted the men. One of them, in the words of the affidavit, “gave him an attitude.” Stevens’ alleged response was to shoot him and to try to shoot the other man. Both victims ran.

Investigators claimed that further investigating revealed Stevens had been armed with an AR-15 style rifle.
“Michael shot [uninjured victim’s] truck more than twenty times, striking the front windshield and the side windows,” police wrote. “[The injured victim] crashed his pickup truck into a tree and realized that he was shot twice in the back.”
Stevens has pleaded not guilty to two counts of shooting with intent to kill and three counts of felon in possession of a firearm. Those latter charges stem from him pleading guilty in a DUI case in 2016.
A hearing in the shooting case is set for Dec. 13.
