Torrii Federick sentenced for poisoning husband

Torrii Federick (Thomas County Sheriff’s Office).

A Georgia woman found guilty of murdering her husband by poisoning him with antifreeze will spend the rest of her life behind bars.

Torrii Federick, who is 45 years old, received a life sentence with the chance of parole after being convicted of malice murder. She was taken into custody in November 2022, over a year following the passing of her spouse Phil Federick, aged 40, on September 5, 2021.

Reports from police investigators revealed that Phil Federick’s demise was due to ethylene glycol poisoning, a substance commonly found in antifreeze and brake fluid. According to coverage from the Thomasville Times-Enterprise, during an initial interrogation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, one of the couple’s children disclosed that Torrii Federick had served her husband a drink that she had specially prepared for him.
