Bill Clinton Defends Hillary Clinton Against Trump’s “Phony” Email Claims On ‘The View’, Says He’d “Talk” To Biden About A Pardon

During a recent episode of The View, former president Bill Clinton made an appearance to discuss various political topics, including the controversial email scandal involving his wife Hillary Clinton.

The discussion was initiated by Sunny Hostin, who highlighted the upcoming return of Donald Trump to the White House and the concerns surrounding potential retribution and targeting of political adversaries. Hostin mentioned Kash Patel, chosen by Trump to oversee the FBI, allegedly having Hillary on his list of individuals to pursue.

Bill Clinton defended his wife, stating that she had not committed any wrongdoing and had strictly adhered to the existing regulations. He refuted the allegations against her and emphasized her compliance with the established rules.

“Third, Trump’s state department found — remember how the emails were such a big issue in 2016? Trump’s state department found that Hillary sent and received exactly zero classified emails on her personal device,” he continued. “It was a made-up, phony story. I guess if Kash Patel was determined to make one up, he could do it.”

When Hillary was running for president in 2016, she was accused of using a private email server to send and receive classified information while working as the Secretary of State. However, former FBI Director James Comey said he would not recommend criminal charges at the time, noting that while Hillary and her aides were “extremely careless” with the emails, “no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case.”

In the event that Trump does go after his 2016 opponent, Hostin asked Bill whether Biden should “preemptively pardon” her and other targets.

“I think if President Biden wanted to talk to me about that, I would talk to him about it, but I don’t think I should be giving public advice on the pardon power,” he said. “I think it’s too — it’s a very personal thing.”

Bill, for his part, was hopeful that Trump would not go after his foes.

“Most of us get out of this world ahead of where we’d get if all we got was simple justice,” he said. “And so, it’s normally a fool’s error to spend a lot of time trying to get even.”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
