Returning home from a two-week trip, Alexa Losey immediately sensed that something was amiss. She was startled to find smeared fingerprints on her pricey moisturizer dispenser, which was just the beginning of a series of unsettling discoveries.
A guest on The Unbothered Podcast alongside Chloe Madison, Alexa recounted the distressing experience of learning about her long-term partner’s infidelity through her Ring doorbell camera footage.
During one of the podcast episodes, where the hosts swapped some of their most outlandish anecdotes, Alexa recounted a harrowing story from a past relationship that culminated explosively when she caught her boyfriend red-handed with another person via her home security system.
Alexa claimed her ex was ‘really verbally and psychologically abusive,’ and got to the point where he wouldn’t let her do anything alone and was very controlling.
Alexa said it all came to a head when she was offered a job in New York and he was resistant about coming with her – citing the flights being too expensive, despite being very financially secure.
The content creator noted several red flags while she was away, including her boyfriend neglecting to pick up her FaceTime calls and suddenly being okay with her being alone in the city, after insisting on accompanying her everywhere previously.
When she got back to Los Angeles from New York, Alexa immediately clocked that something was wrong.
‘I walked into the house and things were just off,’ she declared. ‘I went to my La Mer moisturizer and there was like dirt in it and like little fingerprints in it.’
‘She used so much of it,’ she added, noting that other products – which she deemed ‘girl coded’ had also been used.
‘I could tell my fragrances were kind of out of place, I was like someone has been here,’ she said. ‘I knew.’
Alexa asked her boyfriend to review the footage from the Ring camera after suspecting an intruder but he immediately told her it hadn’t been set up yet, which she flagged as ‘very weird.’
‘That’s when I knew. I was like I have to get into those cameras,’ she declared.
‘I’m also somebody where I don’t go through someone’s s**t,’ she pointed out. ‘If I feel the need to go through text messages I just know it’s over.’
However, she said she needed to get into the security system, because she knew someone had been inside her home.
Alexa tried to get her boyfriend to come clean with her, recalling sitting him down and saying: ‘I had a dream you were cheating on me and I just need you to look at me straight in the eyes and tell me that you were not.’
‘Anyway that night I knew. I woke up in the middle of the night [and] my body was like “go get in that security cam footage,”‘ she continued, adding: ‘The password was my birthday.’
Lo and behold, she found a woman had consistently been coming to their house the entire time she was away.
Alexa went through two weeks of footage for the time she had been gone, finding that ‘like clockwork,’ there was a girl who would come to the house they shared at 9pm.
‘[She] looked identical to me, identical,’ she continued in disbelief. ‘Just like me – just like me, and I was like “Oh my god. Oh my god.”‘
Alexa said she had her ex on Find My Friends, and had noticed he had been in a different area a few times while she was away – deciding to screenshot it as she thought it was strange.
‘I ended up calling my friend who works in cyber security,’ she admitted. ‘[I told him] this is so important I need you to like figure out who this person is.’
Alexa said he found out who the woman was ‘within 10 seconds’ – and she found her on Instagram, finding she had a sizeable amount of mutual followers.
‘Our entire friend group followed her and were like recent followers,’ she recalled incredulously. ‘So they were all in on it – everybody knew! Everyone! No one told me.’
Alexa then admitted she went a little ‘crazy,’ and took a ‘ton’ of screenshots from the home security system, which showed the girl arriving at their house.
‘I printed off 600 of them and I put them all over the house,’ she recalled. ‘Guest room, pillowcases, guest room sheets, under the sheets, on top of the sheets, in every cereal box, on the f**king toilet paper.’
‘I just wanted to make sure that his mom would find it, that his friends would find it, that the cleaner would find it – I was like the this will haunt you for a long time,’ she declared.
She said months later the woman tried to talk to her but she ignored it, and has since moved on.
