Whenever a political figure or a leftist mentions that “paying taxes is patriotic,” get ready to hear a call for higher taxes. Let’s call this the Clark’s Law of Taxational Patriotism: “If taxes are brought up, the statement that taxes are patriotic will always be followed by a request for increased taxes.”
This brings us to a Maryland state delegate, Gabriel Acevero, who is making just this claim:
Deranged Maryland Rep claims it’s more patriotic to pay taxes than stand for the Pledge of Allegiance:
“The most patriotic thing you can do is not the Pledge of Allegiance… but paying your fair share in taxes.”pic.twitter.com/QQgT3fN2tx

Mr. (Yes, I’m presuming his gender; the beard is kind of a giveaway) Acevero claims:
Paying taxes is considered one of the most patriotic acts. While discussions on how to raise taxes and who should pay them can vary, the ultimate act of patriotism lies in fulfilling your tax obligations. This surpasses reciting the Pledge of Allegiance or singing “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
In addition to the aforementioned law, another common phrase used by leftists is “…paying your fair share in taxes,” which implies a call for higher contributions. Even if the top 10 percent of taxpayers in the country already cover 90 percent of the taxes, the left often pushes for them to contribute more, stating they should pay “their fair share.”
So, you know what this guy’s real point is.
Here’s the thing the left never gets about taxes. Well, there are a lot of things the left doesn’t get about taxes, but here’s a big one: You can increase revenues by lowering marginal tax rates.
