A woman from New Jersey faced charges of two counts of attempted first-degree murder for her involvement in an alleged murder-for-hire scheme targeting her ex-boyfriend and his daughter.
The arrest of 26-year-old Jaclyn Diiorio was made public by the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office through a press release issued on Tuesday. Diiorio was apprehended after allegedly being caught paying an informant to arrange the killings of her ex-boyfriend, a 53-year-old officer in the Philadelphia Police Department, and his 19-year-old daughter. Details from a probable cause affidavit, as reported by WCAU, an NBC affiliate in Philadelphia, revealed that Diiorio planned to enlist a man she met on the Tinder dating app to carry out the crime.
As per information provided by WCAU, Diiorio and the informant met on Tinder at a Wawa convenience store in Runnemede, New Jersey, on March 31. Following the initial meeting, they continued their communication through text messages and phone calls in the subsequent days. The affidavit indicated that at some point, Diiorio expressed her desire for her ex-boyfriend to be killed to the informant.
On April 3, prosecutors said the office’s major crimes unit became aware of the alleged plot to off the Philadelphia cop — and Diiorio’s alleged $12,000 price for the double murder.
The probable cause affidavit stated that the alleged target was notified of the plot by investigators on April 4. He told investigators that he and Diiorio met when she was his barber and the two broke up on March 6. Diiorio had previously filed a temporary restraining order against the Philadelphia cop, but dropped it.
Diiorio and the informant scheduled to meet each other at a Dollar General in Glendora, New Jersey, where she allegedly planned to pay the informant $500 as a down payment for the murders. Gloucester Township police were on the scene and took Diiorio into custody after the payment was made. She was also allegedly found carrying alprazolam — often prescribed for panic attacks and anxiety — in a bottle with the label peeled off.
Diiorio was charged with two counts of first-degree attempted murder, one count of first-degree conspiracy to commit murder, and one count of possession of a controlled dangerous substance. She was ordered to be remanded into custody until her April 9 court hearing.
