Confronting footage has captured the moment an elderly man was pepper-sprayed by police as he tried to force an officer to leave his home after a bizarre confrontation.

The incident which was captured on video was triggered after two men aged 28 and 29 were allegedly discovered by patrolling police officers sitting in an illegally parked car in McLean Street Auburn, Western Sydney, at about about 11pm on Saturday night.

Police allege the duo had $10,000 cash in the car and fled on foot when the officers approached their Nissan R50.

The footage taken in nearby Mary Street shows a masked officer asking to speak to a 28-year-old man he alleged had run from police.

The constable was seen being ordered to leave the property by the man and two of the home’s occupants – aged 31 and 60 – one of whom could be heard telling the officer ‘I’ll knock your teeth out’ as others shouted in Arabic.

The officer then pepper-sprayed the men from the street as they closed the gate behind him, only for police to moments later force their way back into the home.

‘Don’t even step in here with a warrant,’ one of the men told the officers standing on the pavement, who told the group he didn’t need one to enter the property.

Officers were then seen entering the home and arresting the 31-year-old occupant.

‘I’m recording you, you dogs,’ a female voice behind the camera could be heard telling the officers. ‘What the f**k are you doing – leave him alone.’

Police allege the 28-year-old fled the property during the altercation, before being arrested the following day at Auburn Police Station and charged with resisting an officer and not complying with Covid health orders.

He appeared at Burwood Local Court on Monday and was granted conditional bail.
