Pablo Mari has had the scare of his life. The defender of Serie A club Monza was one of five people involved in a mass stabbing by a man with mental problems in a shopping center in Assago, just outside Milan.
MARCA has learned that Mari is conscious, after being stabbed in the back while he was walking with his wife and son in the store. He was taken by helicopter to the hospital and is talking to his relatives, although he was a little dizzy when he was taken to the health center and the scare has been tremendous.
In addition to the former Arsenal footballer, four other people were stabbed and two of them are in serious condition.
As reported by Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian authorities do not consider it a terrorist attack. The 46-year-old man who made the stab wounds suffers from mental illness and has already been arrested.
