Whoopi Goldberg Thinks Trump Is “Getting Even” With America For Not Supporting Him Through His Tariffs And Controversial Policies: “He’s Angry At This Country”

The ladies of The View have accused President Donald Trump of trying to purposefully “destroy” the country with his economic policies.

As the co-hosts railed against the controversial feats Trump accomplished in his first 100 days in office, Sunny Hostin pointed out that President Trump inherited a rather healthy economy from President Joe Biden, who she said “added 16.6 million jobs” to the economy, “more than any four-year term of any previous presidency.”

“That is what Donald Trump got. What we got, especially in his second [term]: Stock market demolished, 401Ks demolished, Department of Education demolished… What good has he done to the economy? What kind of businessman is that? A bad one!” she ranted.

Joy Behar commented that hearing Trump’s recent feats laid out like that makes him sound like a “nihilist,” or “someone who wants to destroy everything.”

And Whoopi Goldberg seemed to agree. The comedian speculated that the president may be trying to get back at the United States and its allies for their lack of support through these controversial tariffs.

“I think he’s angry at the country. I think he feels that Americans didn’t support him, he feels our allies didn’t support him and now he’s getting even,” she said.

Goldberg continued, “There’s no other reason to do what he’s doing. It doesn’t make sense.”

She added that “there are ways” for Trump to navigate trade relations with China more effectively, which prompted Sara Haines to interject, adding, “With a scalpel not a sledgehammer.”

Goldberg agreed, adding that it feels like Trump is using a cement presser instead of a scalpel.

The View co-hosts will soon have plenty of opportunity to discuss Trump’s second term in office when former President Biden stops by the studio with his wife Jill Biden for their very first interview since leaving the White House.

The Bidens are set to appear on The View Thursday, May 8.

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
