Families in Connecticut still have time to apply for the state’s child tax credit, but the deadline is drawing near.

Families can obtain benefits for up to three children and 250 dollars per child by applying by July 31.

The state opted to give some of its roughly 4 billion dollar budget excess back to taxpayers.

On May 9, Governor Ned Lamont ratified the Connecticut Child Tax Rebate until 2022. Lamont stated that he anticipates payments to be made in August, close to the beginning of the academic year.

“I strongly urge all eligible families in Connecticut to submit an application so that the rebate can be sent to you with no delays,” Lamont said.

Who is eligible to receive these benefits?

The child tax credit is available to every Connecticut parent who listed at least one kid who was 18 years old or younger on their 2021 taxes.

The aforementioned income requirements must be satisfied in order to qualify for the maximum 250 dollar rebate per child:

  • 100,000 dollars or less if you’re single, married, and filing separately
  • 160,000 dollars or less for the head of household
  • 200,000 dollars or less for married couples filing jointly

More than 300,000 homes that might be eligible received postcards from Connecticut’s Department of Revenue Services in May.

Higher earners can be qualified for a smaller rebate. The reimbursement will be decreased by 10 percent for each 1,000 dollars if the parent’s income exceeds the limits, according to the state’s website.

A household can receive a maximum benefit of 750 dollars.
