After Paddy “The Baddy” Pimblett’s sensational win over Jordan Leavitt by submission at UFC London, he gave an even better speech that addressed the need for men to seek mental health help when needed and not take the suicide road.

The UFC fighter was in tears inside the octagon as he remembered a friend on him who he lost to suicide while he was training for this fight.

Number of men seeking mental health help has increased since his speech

It has been confirmed that in West Yorkshire, the number of men seeking help to deal with their mental health have surged after Pimblett’s sincere speech at the O2 Arena.

Andy’s Man Club, one of the most well known mental health groups in West Yorkshire has seen an increase in the number of persons attending for the first time since the fight.

Andy Wilson, a facilitator at Andy’s Man Club said they saw 19 new attendees in their Leeds and Castleford groups, who had 89 men regularly attending.

Wilson also said that this just shows how much the gruops are needed, as men are willing to talk about their struggles.

“The interview with Paddy Pimblett following his fight at the weekend can only have helped raise awareness on how important is for people to open up and talk if they’re struggling with anything and a reminder once again that it’s okay to talk.”

During an interview with Sky Sports, Pimblett acknowledged that after his speech, he’s received a lot of comments and messages saying, that they wouldn’t still be here without him.

“It blows your mind. Messages like that will mean more than any win ever will – someone saying to me, ‘I didn’t take my life last night cause of something you said.”
