This week, a man from Florida confessed to his involvement in the shooting death of an 18-month-old baby girl, while suspicions of a simultaneous attempt to hide the facts persist.

C.J. Nelson, Jr., aged 21, acknowledged his legal responsibility for a charge of manslaughter with the use of a firearm on Wednesday, based on information from Flagler County court documents provided by Law&Crime.

An earlier report from Law&Crime highlighted a distressing 911 call made during the Labor Day weekend in 2023, reporting that a young child had tragically suffered a gunshot injury to the head. The incident occurred shortly before midnight at a rented residence on Ranwood Lane in Palm Coast, a city of moderate size within the Daytona Beach metropolitan area.

The child was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

Multiple adults — eight in total — were present at the time of the inexplicable violence, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office alleged.
