Thanksgiving started off tragically for a North Carolina family as a man was shot outside his home by an unidentified attacker in the early morning.

Police in Zebulon, a town located around 25 miles east of Raleigh, reported that when they responded to a call at 1:30 a.m. on the morning of Nov. 28, they found Robert Cummings, 55, in his front yard, unresponsive with a gunshot wound.
