An Oregon man has been indicted for manslaughter over the death of his far more senior partner, authorities announced.

On Dec. 13, Mary McDowell, 64, was found dead outside of her home in Sherwood – a small town and part of the Portland metro area.

On that very day, Jose Lucas Morfin Jr., aged 38, was taken into custody for his alleged involvement in McDowell’s death. Last week, a Washington County grand jury officially charged him.

The defendant now faces multiple accusations, which include one charge of first-degree manslaughter, two charges of second-degree assault, and one charge each of second-degree abuse of a corpse, unlawful use of a weapon, and illegal possession of a firearm as a felon.
