Detectives in Jacksonville, Florida, confronted a man they believe was the getaway driver behind a 13-year-old boy’s murder.
An investigator told Marcel Johnson, 24, on Dec. 15, 2022, that he believed Marcel had knowledge of the events that took place that day. The investigator expressed understanding of the situation, acknowledging that Marcel wasn’t intentionally trying to harm a 13-year-old.
“I didn’t kill nobody at all,” Johnson said.
Authorities stated that Marcel was allegedly driving the vehicle involved in the shooting incident where Kentrevious Tyree Garard, 27, fired shots at another vehicle, injuring three individuals. Tragically, 13-year-old Prince Holland lost his life. He was on his way home from football tryouts.
Despite the accusations, footage shows Marcel denying any involvement in the crime. He claimed he was using his phone at the time of the incident. However, authorities revealed evidence suggesting that Marcel had turned off his phone and turned it back on 20 minutes after the tragic event.
“You ain’t scrolling,’ the detective said. “You ain’t on FaceTime. You ain’t getting DMs. You ain’t doing none of that stuff because your phone is off. Your phone is turned completely off.”
“Ya’ll sprayed a car full of kids knowing there were kids in there,” the detective said at another point in the video.
“I didn’t do anything,” Johnson said.
A hearing in his and Garard’s case is set for Feb. 4.
