A Texas mom is spending her Mother’s Day behind bars after being found guilty of inappropriate conduct with her son’s 13-year-old friend.
Natalie Sorrells, 46, was found guilty by jurors of two counts of indecency with child sexual behavior but was acquitted of two charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child, as per court documents. The judge handed down a sentence of two-and-a-half years for each offense, resulting in a total of five years behind bars for Sorrells. The alleged incidents occurred in 2023 in Rockwall County, within the Dallas area.
According to a statement from a probable cause arrest affidavit obtained from local Fox affiliate KDFW, law enforcement began an investigation after the victim’s mother discovered deleted messages between her child and Sorrells, where Sorrells allegedly referred to the child as “babe.” The boy later disclosed to his mother that Sorrells had sexually assaulted him.
The police arranged for the boy to undergo a forensic interview at the Rockwall Children’s Advocacy Center. During the interview, the victim recounted multiple occasions where Sorrells engaged in inappropriate physical contact with him. Specifically, the victim detailed two incidents of sexual interaction: one in a car following his football game and another at her son’s birthday celebration, according to the affidavit.

The victim also reportedly told investigators that Sorrells’ husband called during one of the encounters asking if she was cheating on him. The victim also alleged Sorrells often bought tobacco and alcohol for him and his friends.
Cops arrested Sorrells in February 2024. She served six days in jail before posting bond. Her attorney could not immediately be reached for comment.
At the time of her arrest, Sorrells was a volunteer at Lakepointe Church in Rockwall. The church sent KDFW a statement saying the alleged abuse did not happen at a church event or in its property.
We were informed last week that one of our volunteer youth workers was arrested for illegal sexual contact with a minor. While it is our current understanding that no inappropriate activity occurred on church premises, at any church event, and that the minor involved was not under the direct leadership of the volunteer, out of an abundance of caution we immediately informed Lakepointe parents, restricted the volunteer from any access to minors at the church and removed her from her volunteer position.
