A man from Maine was taken into custody for making threats of violence towards a stranger through Xbox’s online gaming platform. The messages he sent were riddled with typos, containing alarming statements like “I know we’re u live” and “u next person in line.” Along with these, he also stated intentions to burn the victim’s house down and harm their family, as per law enforcement officials.

The individual in question, James Maynard, aged 32 and residing in Pittsfield, was apprehended on April 25. He faces charges of making written or electronic threats to carry out acts of violence following a thorough investigation conducted by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, which spanned over two years.

The authorities initiated their probe after receiving reports of threats against a resident of Palm Coast in November 2022. Subsequently, they were able to trace these threats back to Maynard. At the time of the incidents, the victim was a minor, and Maynard allegedly used anonymous Xbox accounts to send intimidating messages to the juvenile, according to the police.
