A Virginia woman’s alleged plans to have someone killed were stopped by police. Now she’s charged with criminal solicitation of murder.
On Nov. 26, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office stated in a media release on Facebook that Gennevieve McGhee, 44 years old, was in communication with a confidential source. This source, cooperating with law enforcement, recorded audio and video of their conversation with McGhee at her home in Ridgeway, Virginia, near the North Carolina border. Allegedly, during this meeting, she shared intricate details related to the robbery and murder of an unnamed individual.
One of the conversations McGhee had with the informant took place at her residence. It was during this interaction that, acting under the direction of law enforcement, the source utilized a recording device to gather audio and video evidence. The recording positively identified McGhee, leading to her arrest and subsequent detention on Nov. 27.

In the release, the sheriff’s office reported that during the exchange, McGhee purportedly delved into elaborate discussions about payment arrangements and provided instructions for the execution of the robbery and murder. The evidence suggested that McGhee meticulously detailed how she wanted the crime to be carried out.
The sheriff’s office did not identify the target of the plot or the informant. McGhee is being held at the Henry County Adult Detention Center without bond. She was charged with criminal solicitation of murder and conspiracy to commit a felony.
The case is currently under review at the Henry County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office and the investigation is ongoing.
