Bodycam footage out of Kent County, Michigan, shows a mother emotionally complaining to an investigator about being treated “like we’re animals.”

Olivia Elizabeth Miller recently entered a plea of no contest to involuntary manslaughter and received a one-year jail sentence (with credit for 246 days already served) for the tragic death of her 8-month-old son, Asher Johnson. The infant passed away after being left unattended in a bathtub for approximately 20 minutes.

Below is footage from an interview, conducted on Nov. 22, 2023, with certain portions redacted. Please note that the video contains distressing information regarding the circumstances surrounding the child’s demise.

“We were literally having the best time at daycare today,” Miller said in the video.

According to authorities, Miller provided conflicting accounts of the events leading up to her son’s death. Analysis of her cellphone activity revealed continuous usage with only a brief 18-second pause in the 21 minutes before she dialed 911. Approximately four minutes prior to contacting emergency services, she messaged her father mentioning that Asher was taking a nap, as reported by officials.
