The former yoga instructor and her husband attended the reopening of Planet Hollywood in New York City on March 11. While on the red carpet, they were discussing their TLC reality show, “The Baldwins,” with Extra when she was interrupted by her husband.

“It’s gonna be great,” the “30 Rock” alum shared. “You’re a winner.”

During the conversation, Hilaria was not pleased with the interruption and quickly responded by saying, “Oh, my God. When I’m talking, you’re not talking. No. When I’m talking, you’re not talking.”

She then stated that his behavior was why she was going to “have to just cut him out of the show.”

In another part of the interview, Hilaria mentioned that moments of Alec being playful with their seven kids were edited out of the show. She emphasized the significance of establishing a routine while raising their children, which include Carmen (11), Rafael (9), Leonardo (8), Romeo (6), Eduardo (4), María (4), and Ilaria (2).

During that part of the conversation, she said that Alec was “distracting” her when he asked her about the “Spanish word for essential.”

“Now you’re just doing that. Like, why?” she asked. “Why are you distracting me?”

Alec said that he was “captivated by” her “beauty.” When his wife turned back to the reporter, he added, “You’re so beautiful.”

At that point, it seemed that Hilaria had enough as she snapped back at him. “Oh, my God, stop. You’re annoying me,” she said on camera. “Stop. It’s not cute. No, it’s distracting me.”

The “Rust” actor mouthed something to the cameras about her “beauty,” leading Hilaria to roll her eyes and threaten, “I’m going to, like, walk out of this interview right now.”

It looks like Alec got the hint and walked away, leaving Hilaria to go back to her earlier conversation. “Let me go back,” she said as she collected herself. “It’s all about routine. Every day we strive to be boring, and then un-boring things happen to us as they do with seven children.”

Although some might say that she was being pretty mean to her husband on the red carpet, she argued that the “whole world” was mean to her on the March 16 episode of “The Baldwins,” where she revisited the 2020 controversy over her allegedly fake Spanish accent.

“Growing up in a way where you have multiple cultural influences on you means that you’re never going to be able to fit in. You can try,” she explained on the show. “You can chameleon. You know, people who code-switch we’re very good at chameleoning… and you don’t even think you’re not even thinking about it. It’s just normal. It’s just natural.”

She also had a conversation about her communication with a friend of her daughter, Carmen.

“They say that it’s like communication, if you ever talk to a really old person who cannot hear, and I’m gonna emphasize, I’m gonna speak slower,” Hilaria explained. “And you’re not even really thinking about it. You just start to do it.”

“You know what it’s called? Code-switching… I had to learn about it because the whole world was mean to me, and so I had to learn it,” she continued. “It’s code-switching.”

Although she claims she was raised in a Spanish-speaking household, Hilaria was born Hillary Lynn Hayward-Thomas in Boston. In a deleted seven-minute video surrounding the controversy, Hilaria confronted the “chatter online” that questioned her “identity and culture.”

“I was born in Boston and grew up spending time with my family between Massachusetts and Spain,” she explained. “My parents and sibling live in Spain and I chose to live here, in the U.S.A.”

She also addressed the controversy during the show’s premiere, adding, “I’d be lying if I said [the controversy] didn’t make me sad and it didn’t hurt and it didn’t put me in dark places.”

New episodes of “The Baldwins” are released on TLC on Sunday nights at 10 PM ET.
