Ben Affleck Reacts to ‘Hollywood’s Most Eligible Bachelor’ Comment

Ben Affleck has a sense of humor about his love life in the wake of his split from Jennifer Lopez.

The 52-year-old actor was interviewed by TMZ during his dinner outing at Lavo Ristorante in West Hollywood on May 8th. He was questioned in Spanish about how “Hollywood’s most eligible bachelor” was doing.

Taking the comment in his stride, Affleck laughed off the question and replied in Spanish, “Muy bien,” which translates to “very good.”

The outlet then asked Affleck: “Do you still like Latinas?” Affleck didn’t hesitate when replying, “Of course I do.”

Ben Affleck gained fluency in Spanish while working on a children’s TV program in Mexico for a year when he was 13 years old. His former spouse, Jennifer Lopez, who is 55, is a renowned Latin-American actress and singer in the entertainment industry.

In August 20, 2024, Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck. The legal separation was officially completed earlier this year in January, as confirmed by records reviewed by Us Weekly.

Lopez and Affleck were linked for more than 20 years. The actors met on the set of Gigli in 2001, before becoming engaged in November 2002. They were initially scheduled to get married in September 2003, but they called off their wedding days before the planned ceremony. They confirmed their split in January 2004.

Decades later, Lopez and Affleck found their way back to one another in May 2021 and became engaged for the second time in April 2022. They married in Las Vegas in July 2022 and also had a second ceremony in Georgia the following month.

Affleck recently broke his silence on his split with Lopez in an interview with GQ magazine that was published on March 25.

During the interview, the Hypnotic actor referenced The Greatest Love Story Never Told, the documentary he filmed with Lopez during their marriage that shed light on their relationship. Affleck said it was “important to say” that there wasn’t “some major fracture” in his and Lopez’s marriage that exists in the documentary.

“It’s not like you can watch that documentary and go, ‘Oh, now I understand the issues that these two had,’” he said.

Affleck added that he was full of respect for his ex-wife and claimed that there was no single cause that led to the demise of their marriage.

“There’s a tendency to look at breakups and want to identify root causes or something. But honestly … the truth is much more quotidian than probably people would believe or would be interesting,” he continued. “There’s no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue [about our divorce]. The truth is, when you talk to somebody, ‘Hey, what happened?’ Well, there is no, ‘This is what happened.’”
