The Oscars meets The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills!
During an unconventional interview with E! News on Sunday, March 2, Ben Stiller shared his opinions on the strained relationship between Bravo reality personalities Kyle Richards and Dorit Kemsley — all while strolling down the red carpet on Hollywood’s most prestigious night.
The ongoing rift between former best friends Kyle and Dorit has become a central storyline in season 14 of RHOBH, a show that Stiller, aged 59, mentioned he has been enjoying with his 22-year-old daughter, Ella.
Stiller, known for his role in Zoolander, observed that Kyle and Dorit’s falling out coincides with both of them navigating through the challenges of marital separations. (Kyle made public her separation from Mauricio Umansky in July 2023, while Dorit and her husband, Paul “PK” Kemsley, confirmed their separation in May 2024.)
“It just felt to me like they’re both going through this separation … so, why couldn’t they be there to support each other?” Stiller told the outlet, adding that he hopes Kyle, 56, and Dorit, 48, will be able to reconcile.
“I’m not totally caught up on two episodes because I watch with my daughter and we haven’t been together watching it,” the actor said. “But they came together the last episode I saw and I was like, ‘Alright, great! This is the way it should be because they should be there for each other.’”
Stiller recently outed himself as an unexpected RHOBH fan when he shared an X post on February 20 about the latest season. “Glad to see Dorit and Kyle finally bonding through common challenges,” he wrote.
After previous tension, Kyle and Dorit decided to put their drama aside and start “fresh and clean” with their friendship on the February 18 episode of the Bravo series — and also confided in each other about their respective splits.
“It feels like old times. We’re leaning on one another. I kind of missed it,” Dorit said in a confessional of her mended friendship with Kyle.
Stiller, for his part, briefly separated from wife Christine Taylor in 2017, but the pair found their way back to each other during the coronavirus pandemic. (Stiller and Taylor, 53, share daughter Ella and son Quinlin, 19.)
“I think we both wanted it,” Stiller said of his reconciliation with Taylor during a January appearance on The View. “In a relationship — we’ve been married for 25 years — you have to work at it. COVID happened and we all got in a house together with our family. I’m grateful. I’m so grateful we’re back together.”
While admitting that some exes shouldn’t rekindle because it’s “not the right thing,” Stiller said that “it was the right thing” for him and Taylor. “Now, every day that we’re together, we do not take for granted. I know I don’t,” he added. “Because you know it could go away. That, to me, is the gift [of] our relationship is that we have that every day. I’m so happy that we’re [back together].”
