An actor shared that during the production of the BBC miniseries “To the Ends of the Earth” in South Africa in 2004, he experienced a traumatic event. The incident occurred following a diving excursion with friends, when their car had a flat tire, leaving them stranded.
Subsequently, the actor, along with his companions, was reportedly ambushed by six men, forced into a vehicle, and driven around for several hours. They were then tied up and made to sit as if facing execution before the attackers eventually fled. Cumberbatch’s Home Intruder Received Restraining Order
In a satisfying moment of justice, the man responsible for the attack on Cumberbatch’s London home was held accountable for his actions. The former luxury hotel staffer pled guilty to criminal damage at Wood Green Crown Court, receiving a £250 fine and a three-year restraining order.

Cumberbatch is no stranger to going the extra mile for his craft, but his commitment to authenticity came with a price during the filming of “The Power of the Dog.”
In a 2021 interview with Esquire Magazine, Cumberbatch revealed he suffered nicotine poisoning not once but three times while portraying Phil Burbank, a chain-smoking rancher.
The Blast reported that Cumberbatch smoked countless filterless rollies for the role, which took a toll on his health. “That was really hard. Filterless rollies, just take after take after take. I gave myself nicotine poisoning three times,” he admitted, calling the experience “horrible.”
