Beyoncé Buffers Up For Netflix Christmas Halftime Show With Hilarious Promo

Grammy-winning superstar Beyoncé is poking a bit of fun at Netflix – and her fans – before her big Christmas halftime performance.

On the eve of the “Ya-Ya” singer’s anticipated performance at the Baltimore Ravens vs. Houston Texans game, a new promo featuring the 43-year-old debuted.

The promo includes a nod to the streaming issues that plagued the Jake Paul/Mike Tyson bout in November.

Beyoncé Jokes About Live Buffering Issues In New Netflix Promo

In the promotional clip that Beyoncé released via her social media profiles on Tuesday, a crowd cheers offscreen as the “Cowboy Carter” vocalist slowly comes into view.

The camera slowly pans up to capture the singer wearing a long flowery shawl, high heels, a large black cowboy hat, and shades. She is strumming a banjo as she appears to perform her No. 1 Billboard Hit, “Texas Hold’ Em.”

The lens gets into perfect view, and Beyoncé pulls off her shades. As the camera zooms into her face, the screen suddenly freezes, and the infamous red buffering circle appears.

Before the visual resumes, the singer lets out a light chuckle, which leads to her winking and smiling at the camera.

A graphic follows on-screen that reads, “Halftime Show, This Christmas, Houston, TX.”

With the teaser, Beyoncé wrote on Instagram: “I’m sending you big joy and love on this Cowboy Christmas Eve. I’ll see y’all tomorrow, in my city HTX.”

Beyoncé’s Christmas Performance Will Feature Live Debut Of ‘Cowboy Carter’

Initially released in March, Cowboy Carter is Beyoncé’s eighth studio album and her first country effort. It has yet to be promoted beyond its three singles.

That will change on Christmas Day, when the singer’s halftime show, first teased by the streaming giant last month, will take place. This will be her third time partnering with the NFL, the first being her 2013 Super Bowl performance.

In 2016, she accompanied Bruno Mars and Coldplay for their joint halftime lineup, which saw her garner controversy via a performance of “Formation.”

Since then, husband Jay-Z has reupped his partnership with the sports organization for future halftime performances, including Kendrick Lamar’s upcoming Super Bowl LIX set in February 2025.

According to the Daily Mail, the singer’s halftime performance could tease what fans might see on a supposed 2025 world tour.

A reported insider claims the “Single Ladies” superstar is planning to unveil what is said to be a “spectacular” set of shows for “Cowboy Carter” and an as-of-yet unknown follow-up.

Though nothing has been confirmed, some of Beyoncé’s most diehard supporters believe that a rock-themed era could follow her current country phase and her nod to disco and dance via “Renaissance,” the singer’s 2022 album.

The insider also noted the future project will be her most “unique” to date, with “extravagant” concerts set to accompany the work.

Beyoncé and her camp have been mum on any possible future projects.

Similar to ‘Renaissance,’ Beyoncé Has Yet To Release Visuals To Accompany ‘Cowboy Carter’

In what has become a new norm for the singer, there have yet to be official visuals released for the “Cowboy Carter” singles.

The absence follows a similar void for “Renaissance,” where she notably told fans during one of her concerts that she considered them better “visuals” than she could comprise.

Speaking to GQ in September, Beyoncé expanded her reasons for not focusing on music videos for the first time in her career.

“I thought it was important that during a time where all we see is visuals, that the world can focus on the voice,” she stated. “The music is so rich in history and instrumentation. It takes months to digest, research, and understand. The music needed space to breathe on its own.”

A statement from Parkwood Entertainment, Beyoncé’s production company, similarly noted that the singer hoped to make the music strong enough to exist without visuals.

“[It gives] fans the opportunity to be limitless in their expansive listening journey,” it read, adding, “It is a chance again to be listeners and not viewers while taking in every gem of the pristine production.”

Why It’s Important To Catch Beyoncé’s NFL Christmas Halftime Show Early On

Unlike most Netflix productions, the Ravens/Texans game is the property of the NFL.

As such, the streaming app only has a three-hour window following its initial airing to allow for replays.

With that said, if you want to catch Beyoncé tearing the turf up, be sure to do so early!

The Baltimore Ravens vs. Houston Texans matchup – and Beyoncé’s Halftime performance – kicks off Christmas Day at 4:30/1:30 PT on Netflix.
