Blake Lively Shares Thoughts on Taylor Swift’s Absence from Super Bowl amid Legal Troubles

Blake Lively‘s friendship with Taylor Swift seems to be heading for the rocks after the pop star snubbed her from her Super Bowl 2025 guest list.

Justin Baldoni, Lively’s co-star in “It Ends With Us,” has accused her of using her connection with Taylor Swift to gain attention for his film, a move that reportedly didn’t sit well with the “Bad Blood” singer.

Swift apparently did not extend an invitation to Lively for the recent championship game, but according to a source, Lively wasn’t interested in attending even if she had been asked.

As Swift didn’t include her in the list of guests for the upcoming Super Bowl matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, Lively will not be present at the event.

Lively was present at last year’s edition with Swift and her crew as they all cheered on the Chiefs from a jam-packed VIP suite at Allegiant Stadium.

However, things took a drastic turn after the “Blank Space” singer was dragged into her ongoing legal drama with Justin Baldoni, who alleged in his $400 million lawsuit that Lively used Swift’s name to try to hijack his film.

Now, insiders have told the Daily Mail that Lively never intended to attend the championship game because she doesn’t want her legal battle to “overshadow” Swift and her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s “big night.”

“Taylor is not shading Blake [nor] is she trying to teach her a lesson. It isn’t like that. Even if Taylor did invite Blake, Blake would not come,” a source shared.

“She would never want to make Taylor’s big night – where she is going to see the love of her life play in another Super Bowl – about her. Blake would not want to overshadow Taylor ever,” they added.

The claims surrounding Swift’s Suber Bowl guest list come after TMZ reported that the singer felt “used” by Lively in her legal feud with Baldoni.

Baldoni alleged in his $400 million lawsuit that Lively likened herself to “Game Of Thrones” character Khaleesi and went as far as calling Swift her “dragon” in an alleged text exchange.

He noted that he felt ambushed by Reynolds and Swift at the meeting with Lively as the pair made him feel like he “needed to comply with Blake’s direction” on edits she made to the “It Ends With Us’ script.

According to the news outlet, a source noted that Swift now “resents” Lively for branding her one of her “dragons,” adding that the 14-time Grammy winner was blindsided over the meeting with Baldoni.

The source explained that Swift came to Lively’s apartment when she was told by the actress and had “no idea” that Baldoni would be there.

They claimed that Swift believes Lively “timed” her meeting with Baldoni so she would arrive before he left.

The insider further noted that Swift was “baffled” by Lively calling her a “dragon,” adding, “It’s weird to say that about a friend.”

Swift has also learned Lively has been “inappropriately leveraging her name for a long time, like telling a young actress that Taylor ‘cast her,’ which simply did not happen.”

Months before her legal battle with Baldoni began, Lively came under fire online as old clips resurfaced amid reports that she was difficult to relate with.

Insiders shared that Swift tried to help her “tone down” her “ballsy” nature years before the controversy with Baldoni and tried to advise her against going “full throttle.”

“Taylor Swift admires that Blake Lively is a ballsy chick who speaks her mind, swears like a trooper, and refuses to be controlled by anyone,” a source told the Daily Mail. “That’s the real reason they bonded and became firm friends when they first met 10 years ago.”

They continued, “Taylor saw her doppelgänger in Blake. The main difference between them is that Taylor is more subtle. Blake has always gone full throttle about everything. She never holds back and that’s what has caused the tide to turn on her.”

“Taylor has tried to help tone Blake down in the past, but she now knows it’s never going to happen,” the source added. “Right now, while they’re still close, there’s a slight shift because of the It Ends With Us drama. Taylor doesn’t like the fact that she’s been dragged into it.”

Lively has seemingly removed herself from the public eye as her legal battle with Baldoni rages on.

She’s suing the director in a $250 million lawsuit for alleged sexual harassment on the set of “It Ends With Us,” with Baldoni filing a $400 million counter lawsuit alleging she tried to hijack his film.

An insider who spoke to the Daily Mail shared that the “Gossip Girl” star may be forced to return to the public eye to promote her new film “Another Simple Favor,” which is set to premiere in May 2025.

“Blake may have to do promotional work for another Simple Favor due to contractual obligations unless they decide that it is best for her not to,” the insider explained.

“Other than that, she is staying close to home because she doesn’t want to deal with the added stress. She is focused on her family and her kids right now,” they added. “She knows she cannot stay in hiding forever.”
