Andy Cohen is assuring The Real Housewives of New York City fans that the Bravo reality show is not canceled.
During an episode of Andy Cohen Live on Tuesday, May 13, the 56-year-old Cohen expressed his uncertainty about the status of the Real Housewives series. He revealed that despite being in between seasons, Bravo executives had met with 10 potential new cast members for The Real Housewives of New York.
In simpler terms, Cohen explained that Bravo is currently in “the casting process between seasons” and added it’s “heavily underway.”
Cohen shared his confusion with cohost John Hill, stating that due to ongoing discussions, no official announcements had been made regarding the show’s future. He described the situation as peculiar and continuously evolving.
Speculation about the fate of The Real Housewives of New York City arose on Friday, May 9, leading to online reports suggesting uncertainty about the show’s continuation. In response to these claims, Bravo took steps to clarify the situation and address any misinformation.
“Nothing is official,” a Bravo spokesperson told Us Weekly on Friday. “The show hasn’t been canceled.”
Bravo’s reaction came days after Bravo announced its upcoming slate of programming with a mix of returning shows and new additions.
While The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, The Real Housewives of Orange County, The Real Housewives of Potomac and The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City were officially renewed, The Real Housewives of New York City was noticeably missing.
“Final decisions haven’t been made, and they are seeing if they can find a solution,” one source exclusively shared with Us on Friday. “The network and producers have been debating whether or not to bring it back.”
Season 15 of The Real Housewives of New York City featured Sai de Silva, Jenna Lyons, Erin Lichy, Ubah Hassan, Racquel Chevremont, Brynn Whitfield and Jessel Taank. Rebecca Minkoff was a “friend” of the cast but previously announced she would not be returning to the show.
While it’s unclear who Bravo executives have been interviewing, Julia Fox claimed she was recently approached by the network to star on the show.
“They fully wanted me to be on RHONY,” she said in a TikTok live captured via a fan site. “I did an interview for it and everything, and then I had this moment where I was like, ‘Honestly, I don’t even think that I can save that franchise.’ The women are amazing individually. I just don’t see them working. It just doesn’t work together. I think they need to do a full reboot.”
