Tamron Hall Reveals Why She’s “Happy” Sunny Hostin And Joy Behar Weren’t On ‘The View’ For Her Interview

Tamron Hall was “happy” that Sunny Hostin and Joy Behar were missing from her interview on The View this morning.

During the promotion of her new children’s book Harlem Honey: The Adventures of a Curious Kid, the talk show host found herself without two of the regular co-hosts, Behar and Hostin, who had been present earlier in the episode. Instead, Hall discussed her book with co-hosts Alyssa Farah Griffin, Whoopi Goldberg, and Sara Haines.

As Hall talked about her new book, she revealed how she really felt about the two co-hosts ducking out before her interview.

Expressing her nerves about being on the show, Hall mentioned, “I was a little nervous when I came out on the show, which is why I’m happy Sunny and Joy aren’t here because I get really nervous by the numbers. This is intimate here.”

Opening up about her past, Hall shared that she was a “shy kid” and her mother had encouraged her to participate in various activities to overcome her shyness, stating that her friends now describe her as a “social loner.”

The broadcast journalist last appeared on The View in March 2024, where she candidly opened up about her sister’s murder — and how it inspired a character in her fiction novel Watch Where They Hide. That time, both Hostin and Behar were present.

“[When] my sister’s murder happened, I felt so helpless,” she said at the time. “I remember being on the phone with the detective and he said, ‘We know who did it but we can’t convict.’ Not enough evidence.”

Hall’s book follows a woman named Shelly who reaches out to crime reporter Jordan Manning to find her missing sister. According to Hall, she realized after she wrote the book that Shelly reminded her of her sister, who was reportedly found dead face-down in her pool.

“When I was writing Shelly, in the book you’ll see, she travels a great distance and she ambushes Jordan begging for her help,” Hall said. “So that’s to resolve some of the helplessness that I felt.”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
