Man shot wife, then claimed she died by suicide: Authorities

James Radford (Shawano County Sheriff’s Office).

A man from Wisconsin purportedly made a claim that his wife shot herself in the chest while holding a gun in both hands, just after he informed her of his intention to leave her. Nonetheless, authorities were skeptical of his version of events.

James C. Radford, now 39, the widower in question, is alleged to have been the one who shot and killed Sabrina Radford, 25, while she was holding a phone. He allegedly fabricated a story about her supposed “suicide” and falsely claimed to have attempted CPR.

From the complaint:

The complainant also states that on April 11, 2016, when law enforcement arrived, various articles of clothing and other items were strewn on the floor in an upstairs bedroom. It is believed by the complainant that the defendant may have done this in a fit of anger because Sabrina Radford was planning to leave him for another man.

Radford is charged with first-degree reckless homicide with use of a dangerous weapon. He was charged on April 11, nine years after he allegedly killed Sabrina Radford, but Shawano County deputies announced it on Tuesday. Radford is scheduled for a status conference to take place June 9. Bond was set at $800,000 and he remains behind bars as of Tuesday.
